In art there are no mistakes, only discoveries.

Art Therapy is a unique collaborative modality that requires no artistic background or prior experience.

In fact, art therapy is probably more effective with clients who typically don’t tend to make art, but who are open to tapping into the creative parts of the brain. As stated by the ATCB, “The process isn’t an art lesson – it is grounded in the knowledge of human development, psychological theories and counseling techniques.”

Art materials are provided and together we explore topics related to your treatment goals through art making. Both the process and product are equally important. We typically will have a discussion about your experience of making art and then together we explore themes that emerge from the art product. This process can be very cathartic for many people – particularly those who have challenges with getting to the core root of issues with talk therapy alone.

I am trained as a Clinical Art Therapist through Loyola Marymount University’s MFT Clinical Art Therapy Master’s Program, and am a registered Art Therapist through the Art Therapy Credentials Board.
